Coach

Without our volunteer coaches, CLLC would not be able to provide the lacrosse experience to Boston’s youth. Please take a moment to read the Coaching Philosophy below and contact Kim Perry, Executive Director if you are interested in joining our coaching staff.

Coaching Philosophy

We are committed to helping our players master the skills necessary to play lacrosse at an age-appropriate level. We seek to help players balance short term effort with long term goals and to participate enthusiastically and constructively in the dynamic of the team with strict adherence to the highest principals of sportsmanship.  We acknowledge that fun is essential to sustaining interest in lacrosse, but also appreciate that individual skill mastery and team success increasingly become essential elements in the establishment of a fun environment.  Commitment to regular practice and game attendance provides the interactive continuity necessary for growth in sport-specific and life skills.  We understand that, as coaches, we must conduct ourselves, and require conduct on the part of our players, such that we are a valuable extension of the classroom and home with respect to the character and moral development of our players.

Junior Officials

In 2008, Charlestown Against Drugs and CLLC partnered to select three high school students to complete an official training and mentoring program to become a lacrosse official. This program not only allowed these athletes to stay active in the game of lacrosse, but taught them valuable life lessons, including fiscal responsibility, respect of officials and the importance of being responsible to those that are affected by their decisions.

The Charlestown Lacrosse and Learning Center lacrosse program provides many opportunities for parents and others to volunteer on game days. From helping to set up the fields on game day to selling concessions or serving as score keeper, the program welcomes your assistance. For more information about helping out, please contact Bob Cutler, Executive Director.
